About the author:
Eva Fajčíková is a Slovak painter and a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts. Her work is imbued with mystery and mysticism. Eva creates figurative compositions based on female bodies. However, she portrays women with all socially unacceptable qualities - in her last cycle, for example, she transformed them into a vengeful spirit. Eva finds her inspiration in older fashion magazines, fragments of which she cuts out and puts together. The multi-layered result is then painted over, edited, wiped off, smudged, thus breaking down the individual layers. In the last phase, Eva draws on the painting, the drawing being a silhouette, a geometric grid, a skeleton of the whole painting, which prevents it from falling apart. Eva enjoys experimenting in her life, which is why she is not afraid of combining different techniques in painting, such as oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel and marker. She works in thematic cycles, resulting in series of images being arranged side by side. Eva wants the viewer to be able to unravel the individual layers of her work. That is why she speaks of archaeology and digging back to the hidden groundwork. In her words, the painting is a ruin waiting to reveal its spirit when it is observed at the right angle.
